The Saint-Nazaire bridge

Art and Architecture

There seems to be something paradoxical about Saint-Nazaire. The town is very young –it really came into existence only in the second half of the 19th century and was almost entirely rebuilt after 1945- and yet it has on its territory one of the most impressive examples of Neolithic art of the whole region, i.e. the “Tumulus of Dissignac”. However, because of its history, the town which was built twice in one century, has above all a 20th century heritage to show. All over town you can discover architecture, monuments and works of art.
